Make 2016 the Last “Lose Weight” Resolution… Ever!
Make 2016 the LAST Year for “Losing Weight” as Your Resolution!!
This week seems to be the time frame where we begin to reflect on the past year of 2015. A time to celebrate what happened like we planned and maybe address what may have got away from us.
As we open 2016 we find ourselves confronted once again with a choice or desire to create major changes in our lives. After all, Jan 1st seems to be the designated date when everyone gets to start over. Kind of a clean slate if you will, to create the year we truly would like to embrace.
I am also guilty of these top 10 New Year’s Resolutions that many of us make year after year;
- Lose Weight
- Get Organized
- Spend Less – Save More
- Enjoy Life to the Fullest
- Stay Fit & Healthy
- Learn or Do Something Exciting
- Help Others
- Fall in Love
- Spend more time with family
This list of resolutions is very inspiring. If achieved, It would set us up for a successful year to come. However, within the first week 71% will still be motivated by their choice, by February, 64% will still be on track, by June, 46% will still be trying to keep their New Year’s resolution and by Dec 31st only 8% of the those who made a New Year’s resolution will actually achieve it.
So why is this? All of these resolutions are ambitious and will create a forward movement in one’s life. We become frustrated when these questions are not addressed prior to the resolution;
- How to get started?
- What obstacles transpired to keep us from accomplishing my goals in the past?
- Did I look at my goals in small success steps?
- Did I celebrate the small accomplishment’s to keep me inspired for the overall goal?
In 2013, I made a New Year’s Resolution to finally create a healthy body not only physically, but emotionally. By February, I found myself slipping back into a comfort eating pattern. I had situations that launched me right back into using food as a coping mechanism. I began to feel frustrated, annoyed and thought once again, I failed another “Weight loss Resolution”.
For the first time ever, I actually looked at the events to come. Had it come to another year of yo- yo dieting, buying new clothes and hiding myself from the public eye? I was absolutely mortified for anyone to see me once again 20 to 30 lbs heavier. I decided to use my journey as a way to not only help myself, it was a way to help and inspire others. Hence how my 2nd book Got Baggage? – Unpacking the Pounds came along.
I discovered that as wonderful as it is to exercise and eat the foods to create physical health, there is no way you can keep it, if you have not dropped the weight emotionally! I KNOW!!! As I have lived this all my life. It took a lot of courage to actually post my “Unhealthy pictures” (www.MikkiStGermain.com.) and trust me there are very few.. as I would never want to be in a picture. As difficult as it was to face my reality, I did it to help others know they are not alone in this journey.
Since “Losing weight” is no longer on my list of resolutions, I can proudly say my New Year’s Resolution for 2016 is to inspire and transform the lives of 250,000 people by Dec 31st 2017!! It would be absolutely amazing if I could help guide someone to make life long changes that create a life of joy! Even though there are there are 2.1 billion people who are weight and health challenged , I truly believe one person can offer insight to help. I changed my life and now it is my time to share my journey so others can create the same happiness. I am starting by offering Got Baggage? – Unpacking the Pounds for $2.99! I am offering this price until Dec 31st!! I would like every person who is going through what I have for years, have an opportunity to read my story and understand they are not alone.
I will be blogging every week with an update to hold myself accountable and share my journey of those around me who have changed their thoughts, their lifestyles and are creating a happy life!!
I will be inviting you to share your stories, your comments and anything up lifting to help others find strength, joy and friendship to reach the same goal.
I would LOVE to see YOUR New Year’s Resolution of creating a healthy mind and body in 2016 a success come true!!
Wishing You an Abundance of Love, Joy and Success for 2016!!
